A Message From Kat

Hello, my name is Katherine Alexander but I go by Kat and I am a queer business owner. The business I started is called AlleyKat Designing.  I have always loved to doodle since I was a kid.  I actually would get in trouble for drawing on my notes, assignments and even as an adult I would still get into trouble for drawing during a meeting or professional development because they thought I wasn’t listening.  However, drawing is what kept me listening to the speaker otherwise my mind would have wandered off.  I also have used drawing as a stress reliever from my occupation, but I never really thought my drawings were any good.  I started showing friends and they kept telling me that I needed to do something with them.  So, 1.5 years ago I started my own ETSY shop placing my drawings onto t-shirts, hoodies, coffee cups, and phone cases.  I am also in the process of getting my website WWW.AlleyKatDesigning.com up and going.  This past Summer I started vending at different events selling my shirts and I have included keychains and stickers.  I’m still getting used to the idea that people are wearing my artwork on a shirt or for the overwhelming response to people loving my artwork. What once was something to just occupy my mind and keep me focused and to relieve stress is now turning out to be a great business adventure for me.
