Balancing Act by Benjamine

Message From Benjamine

I wasnโ€™t always an artist.  In my early life I was a figure skater, absorbed in the dramatic body lines and expressive narrative of the sport, which still influences my work today.  I first picked up a paint brush in 2012; a gift from my mother that ignited a passion within me. From that moment, I was captivated by the possibility’s art had to offer.  Being self-taught, which I donโ€™t recommend unless you have a near pathological ability to spend time frustrated and alone, I went through many evolutions of mediums, styles and subjects. These explorations were essential in honing the skills I needed to tackle the intricate art of capturing human experience through painting.  From my earliest days skating to music, I cultivated the ability to convey the human connection through the body, fingers, and faces. Now, as a Proud LGBT+ Artist based in Dallas, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to nurture this connection as my career. Through my art, I strive to communicate the depths of human emotions, the beauty of movement, and the power of self-expression.
